I work in the customer service industry and I look out for so many different things. The staff at Chiang Mai gate are so great, they took so much time in helping us, not just point to the map, they explained much more and gave quality info. On leaving as I said bye and thank you to the lady I was checking out with, all the staff behind the desk said goodbye, this was a memorable experience. Next trip to Thailand will be worked around Chiang Mai gate, as I do not want to stay anywhere else. You may say this is their job, maybe but I felt that they all enjoyed what they did and nothing was false. Please pass on my thank you to all at reception for me. A very happy John

A nice hotel for relaxation chiangmai gate hote is a clean, graceful hotel with spacious public areas for you to relax and meditate. The atmosphere is so wonderful that you can't resist to come back again. the people working at the restaurant seem not so courteous. I recommend that chiangmai gate hotel is your best choice when you come to Chinagmai. It offers you best accommadation, serene atmosphere, clean environment at a very resonable low price. Especially, it locates just between the airport and the old city. you can get anywhere within walking distance. Besides enjoying the convenient the city offers you, you can even get a real feeling of rural life. Shopping Tip : The two shopping malls and old city is just five minutes away from chiangmai gate hotel.

Very nice and confortable room, very cosy atmosphere. Clean. Friendly staff. Wifi very fast and cheap. Laundry very good and cheap. Breakfast needs some improvement but was enough to be fed. The hotel is in a very quite location. They have also a free shuttle service to the night market and the airport transfer is very cheap just 70 baht per person. The laundry service was perfect and cheap and they deliver the same day. Very good aircondition but we did not use because it was not hot. Tv with english channel. Our room had the balcony, big room but cosy atmosphere. Restaurant Tip : Next to the hotel a very good bakery

As good as our expectation. We are happy with the cost we pay, clean room, good services and freinly staffs. Will be even better if breakfast menu change,we had the same menu for all morning as we stay. It's our first time booking hotel with Agonda, our group,5 retirees, booked 3 rooms, travel to C'Mai by driving,we are a little bite concern what kind of hotel we are checking in ! but after 3 nights four days stay, all of us are happy with the services, clean room sleeping with ease and friendly staff. Restaurant Tip : With in walking distance, you will find low cost food and fresh market at C'Mai Gate market.

This turned out to be a fine hotel, although a few extras would have made the price feel a little more appropriate...an electric kettle for tea, more consistent hot water in the shower... The location is convenient - very close to the small markets across the square with tasty dinner choices from the street vendors, convenience stores close by for the basics you might have forgotten, and easy spot to grab a tuk tuk anywhere else you might want to go. I got frustrated with the wifi because I was told I had to purchase cards in 1-hour increments (50 baht each), then was informed on the last day that I could have purchased it a day at a time for a much lower price. I just wished I'd heard that a lot earlier in my stay. The space was decorated in an attractive Lanna style, and were always cleaned immediately after I left my room which was great. Breakfast was basically the same buffet every morning, but will certainly fill you up. All in all, fine but not overwhelming in any direction. Hotel Feature Tip : If you're looking to get laundry done, skip the hotel service (40 baht/kilo) and go straight across the street to the sweet lady with a sign out front - 25 baht/kilo, finished by the next day and your clothes will be treated with great care.

Rooms spotless and in nice traditional Lanna thai style with wooden doors into the bathroom etc. Great location close to southern entrance gate of the old city. Great night market nearby for cheap authentic thai food. Nice pool area to relax and get away from the traffic. Room balcony had no table/chairs to use We booked this hotel having never been to Chiang Mai before and were not disappointed. The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the City walls (southern gate) and there are great amenities all within a 10 minute walk - including a brilliant night food market which served authentic local thai food and was really cheap! The rooms in the hotel, the lobby and the restaurant were all spotless and the decor in the rooms was also a real feature (traditional Lanna thai style). The only downside (if there is one!) is that our balcony overlooking the pool area had no table or chairs to use/sit at. Highly recommended for a good value good location hotel. Restaurant Tip : Eat at the local night market by the City gate walls - cheap and delicious authentic thai food!

I have stayed here before a few times and will stay here again on future visits to Chiang Mai. Only a short distance to Chiang Mai centre, a good local market (under 5 min walk) at Chiang Mai Gate, quiet location and friendly staff. Beats all the hotels in the same price bracket and many that are more expensive. Shopping Tip : Close food market and Chiang Mai Gate.

We enjoyed our stay. Location good, quite quiet and great pool for the days you cant be bothered sightseeing. Expensive for this standard in thailand but not many places have a pool in this area so I was still really glad we went here. We took an overnight tripo to the elphant camp which we booked in the hotel - it was fantastic. Also booked the thai boxing here with ring side seats- well worth it. You wont be overwhelmed by this hotel but not dissappointed either.

The hotel was close to the airport and only a 10 min walk to the night bazaar, we had booked a double smoking room which was not available when we checked in we were given twin beds and had to smoke on the balcony not too much of a problem. the room was ok the a/c worked well and it had cable TV and was clean. Breakfast was included and was ok. Ther was a pool which we never got to use as there were never any available sunbeds. We were there 5 nights. There was a tour operator in the lobby to arrange trips

All in all this was a nice hotel for the money. The major drawback for us was that the pool was so cold. With two kids under 7 the pool was something the whole family was looking forward to. We gave it a try but the kids started shivering immediately. The breakfasts were decent with 'American' and Thai style breakfasts. We had good service while we were there and friendly staff. We stayed in the Royal Suite and liked our rooms. We had no problem with the A/C at all. The showeres were hot and cold and that was a small pain. The hotel computers were convenient and the internet rates (50BHT/hr) quite modest. If it weren't for the pool I would stay in this hotel again. I'd rather spend a little bit more and get a pool the family can actually use.

We paid THB1000 per night and were surprised at this hotel! It was fantastic value for money, with very nice rooms, good service, and a nice breakfast. Great location, a 5min walk into town and plenty of good food nearby. It's a 4 star hotel with a hostel price tag. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of October 08, having booked directly with the hotel. We didn't book a transfer but it was easy to get a taxi from the airport (pre-pay for 120 baht). We stayed in a deluxe room which was very nice. Lanna (northern Thai) decor, aircon, balcony, minibar, in room safe, and hotwater bathroom. Felt posher than a lot of places I've previously stayed at this price tag. Nice and quiet too. The pool was a real plus - good to relax at after a hard day / morning's sightseeing. At the time they had a special offer on - stay 4 nights and pay for 3, which brought the price per night down to 1000 baht. Worth checking their website for. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs / omlettes cooked to order - included in the price. Absoloutely fine and as much as you can scoff. All in all a good deal. Liked — Swish rooms - great decor

stayed here for 2 nights as part of a tour. We arrived early but were able to check in straight away then eat breakfast. Breakfasts were great, huge selection. The hotel is within walking distance of lots of temples and markets. About 10 minutes to the night bizaare. We paid 20 baht per person for one of the red "pickup" trucks (better than a tuk tuk if u have a few ppl). I think my room might have been a deluxe room, not 100% sure. It was thai style, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit small and the shower put water all over the floor. Also the hot water doesnt seem to work all the time, everyone in our tour group had problems. For a short stay I think this hotel is a good choice.

I stayed at the chiang mai gate with my girlfriend for three nights at the end of June 2008. The hotel was 800bt a night with breakfast included. The location was pretty good, in the heart of the city. They offered a free shuttle service to the night bizzare, but if you missed it you could get a tuk tuk for 40bt. I never used the pool, but I did see it and it looked fine. All in all a very good hotel for the money.

1/1 found this review helpful We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in May 2006 and 2008. We will recommend this hotel because they have a very delicious breakfast and a small but nice swimming pool. Some people say that the swimming pool was overcrowded but we got the swimming pool for our self in the afternoon, yes 2 people in the water (2008), yeah. The room was cleaned every day and the staff was very helpful and friendly, we got all the services we asked for and we also were satisfied with the laundry and the room service. We recommend the deluxe room - a double fee compared to the standard room, well worth it... The location is great, 100 meters to the main road; the red buses (20 Baht per person = one trip) will take you to the main attractions: night bazaar, airport plaza, computer plaza, central department store and so on... Chiang Mai Gate hotel: Free shuttle bus to night bazaar at 8 p.m. every day. The hotel tour services is a bit expensive, grab the people outside the hotel and they will take you to several attractions in Chiang Mai (temples , Zoo, night safari, Bungee Jump, Go-Cart) and around the city, (Doi Suthep, Doi Inthanon, waterfall) and even to Chiang Rai City, well worth it again

This is a great place to stay, it is very reasonable and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It is well located to explore the old city of Chiang Mai and most places are within walking distance. The staff are helpful and courteous. I would happily stay here again and the cost of staying is very reasonable indeed.

One of the few hotels in Thailand where we stayed which was up to internationational standards of comfort and cleanliness. We had a tastefully-decorated room with a good bathroom. Price of the room was reasonable too. The hotel is located close to the Saturday Street market. The hotel has a decent-size pool with towels provided. TV in room with lots of English-speaking channels. There are travel agencies, a laundry, internet cafés and restaurants in the street outside. You can eat your buffet breakfast inside or on the pleasant terrace outside. I would recomend this hotel to people who want a base to explore Chaing Mai. Liked — Clean, comfortable, nice pool, can walk into town Disliked — doors slamming, slippery tiles around pool

This hotel is very clean and has all the necessities nearby or even inside the hotel (7 Eleven, food court, internet, massage parlors and tour operators). Staff are very friendly! Rooms are of a decent size but the main door is so thin that EVERYTHING that happens outside in the hallway can be heard clearly from inside (just hope to God that the ppl staying on your floor are quiet!). TV channels are sufficient with enough English channels to watch. Toilets are TINY, but clean. You will definitely wet the rest of the floor for sure if you have a shower, so wear slippers when you get out! Finally, it takes about 25 - 30 mins to walk to the night bazaar! Trust me! It´s NOT a 10 min walk! This hotel on the whole is cheap and was pretty much what i expected. It was well worth the money!

Unfortunately they were mordenizing the old wing, so there was some noise during the day. But the room was clean, good aircon, big balcony. It wa about 5 min. walk from central area, so it was quiet. Had free transfer to NightBazaar at 8 pm. Remember to claim your breakfast-ticket at reception every morning. Breakfast was buffet-type, with good choise. Will come here again next time!
